Carpenter (STLO) - ASM Global

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join their team at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The successful candidate will perform journey-level work in design, construction, and repair of physical facilities and execute event-related setup.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain architectural and structural elements of the building, including doors, hinges, handles, closers, drywall, ceilings, glazing, insulation, signs, carpet, flooring, concrete, and exterior skins.
- Install or repair pipe and drape in exhibit halls, concourses, meeting spaces, and other areas.
- Install show items such as pipe and drape, banners, signs, and other event-related materials.
- Repair and/or build cabinetry, benches, desks, partitions, and other facility, event, and food service needs.
- Provide locksmith services, including maintaining accurate and detailed records of keys, cutting new keys, and changing cores.
- Research, price, and order supplies as needed, generating bills of material for maintenance and projects.
- Maintain stock of frequently used materials and items.
- Build structures for events or building needs.
- Perform visual inspections of the building and notify the appropriate personnel of repairs needed.
- Maintain the Carpenters shop cleanliness and machine maintenance and safety.
- 5 years' experience working as a carpenter, with building operations preferred.
- Excellent organizational, prioritizing, and multitasking abilities.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact well with all levels of staff, clients, and the public.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to clearly instruct others on processes.
- Ability to determine materials, equipment, and tools needed to complete assigned jobs.
- Ability to follow blueprints, schematics, and building plans.
- Professional appearance, presentation, and work ethic.
This position requires work inside and/or outside of the building, as needed by events, and is subjected to changing climate and adverse weather conditions.
The worker is subjected to noise. Noise levels will vary depending on job task and events in the building.
The physical demands and work environment are a representation of what must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This position requires heavy lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working in cramped positions, and standing for long periods of time.
Also requires knowledge of safe operation of tools, such as sharp wheel cutters, reamers, drills, gas cutting torches, and benders, and equipment such as service carts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
Physical attributes necessary include manual dexterity, sensitivity problems, visualization, good vision, balance, and steadiness of the arm and hand.
Other Requirements- Must be able to work a flexible working shift/schedule based on building needs that may include irregular/extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Union membership, fees, and dues are required upon successful completion of the probationary period, payable by the employee.
- Candidate will be required to join the Keystone Mountain Lakes Carpenters Union upon completion of the 90-day probation.
