Activity Coordinator for Skilled Nursing

The Activity Assistant is a crucial member of the care team at Freedom Plaza Sun City, responsible for planning and implementing a diverse activity program that caters to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job DescriptionThis role involves assisting with the planning and coordination of various activities, including reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and one-to-one visits. Additionally, you will assist with preparing and distributing the monthly calendar and newsletter, purchasing supplies for activities, distributing mail to residents, and performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Assist with planning and coordinating activities to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of residents
- Prepare and distribute the monthly calendar and newsletter
- Purchase supplies for activities as needed
- Distribute mail to residents daily
- Perform and direct the movement of residents to and from recreational areas
- Announce scheduled activities over the intercom at least 15 minutes prior to the activity
- Direct volunteer activities, enlist their support, and coordinate their efforts
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident activity attendance
- Plan and coordinate activities in the absence of the Activity Coordinator
We seek an individual with a high school degree and one year of experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed healthcare setting. A background in music, art, drama, and dance therapy is preferred.
