Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nursing Specialist - Patient Care and Safety. As a member of our nursing staff, you will play a vital role in providing routine and complex care to patients, demonstrating an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation.

The successful candidate will have 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty and hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred. The salary for this position is estimated at $65,000-$85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
    • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
    • Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice.
    • Administer medications and treatments; monitor for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
    • Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
    • Audit learning needs and provide education to patients, family members and/or care givers; identify issues and resources.
  • CORE COMPETENCIES:
    • Standard I: Utilizes the Nursing Process
      • Use critical thinking skills to assess the basic physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and development needs of patient and families.
      • Communicate findings to appropriate healthcare team members.
      • Develop and use a specific plan of care and modify it to meet individual patient needs using evidence-based practice.
      • Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document progression of treatment and teaching goals.
      • Evaluate the care and treatment(s) provided to the patient and the patient response to the care and treatment(s).
      • Perform timely reassessment and documentation.
    • Standard II. Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process
      • Anticipate and plan for admission/discharge/transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
      • Utilize appropriate systems of communication and tools to facilitate the discharge process.
    • Standard III. Unit Operations
      • Plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit during an assigned shift.
      • Demonstrate good stewardship in proper use and maintenance of equipment and Supplies.
      • Assess departmental staffing needs; actively participate in resourcing efforts.
    • Standard IV. Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations
      • Incorporate patient safety practices/guidelines to promote a safe environment resulting in positive patient outcomes.
      • Demonstrate accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities.
      • Provide evidence-based nursing care.
      • Communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care.
