Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Abbott, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our implantable medical devices in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute tests to assess the safety of electronic implantable products in MRI environments.
  • Apply engineering and scientific principles to evaluate and solve technical problems related to MRI safety.
  • Contribute to safety evaluations for implantable device systems, including leaded cardiac implantable systems, lead-less implantable systems, and implantable cardiac monitors.
  • Use simulation applications to characterize the electrical response of implanted devices and develop state-of-the-art MRI safety test methods.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of quality and regulatory requirements, including FDA and ISO regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • ~3-5+ years' experience in R&D engineering, with a focus on MRI safety and implantable device development.
  • Proficiency with simulation applications, such as Sim4Life, CST Microwave Studio, and ANSYS HFSS.
  • Experience with analytical tools and applications, including MATLAB, Excel, LabVIEW, and Python.
  • Familiarity with MRI scanner RF and gradient field modeling, electromagnetic simulations, and implantable device electromagnetic and thermal modeling.
