Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer diagnostic testing procedures to determine patient impairment and prognosis for improvement.
  • Analyze testing results and other pertinent information to create individual treatment plans.
  • Develop specific goals and treatment plans, re-evaluating and modifying as necessary.
  • Communicate with medical and allied health personnel regarding patient progress, needs, and discharge planning.
  • Choose, fit, and train patients in the use of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, or orthotics.
  • Document patient care efficiently, timely, and effectively through electronic communication.
  • Provide instruction in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient, or family/caregiver.
  • Conduct or participate in training medical and other personnel in therapy techniques and objectives.
  • Coordinate with other service areas to ensure proper patient care.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides, and therapy students according to departmental policy and professional standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy required; Master's degree or Doctorate degree preferred.
  • One to two years of acute inpatient or acute rehabilitation experience preferred; will consider appropriate experience acquired during student fieldwork.
  • Current state of Arizona Occupational Therapist license required and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
