Job Description:

As a Certified Senior Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and service excellence. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with customers and patients, providing assistance with products and services, and resolving any issues that may arise.

  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy, under the supervision of a pharmacist, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy
  • Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct
  • Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions
  • Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow
  • Report, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program
  • Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and take customers to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians
  • Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager
  • Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals
  • Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs
  • Assist and support Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and seeking to improve pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data
  • May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required
  • Assist pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
  • Support execution of Pickup program
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance
  • Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the correct use of processes and tools to drive efficiency within the pharmacy
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned
  • Maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated PTCB or ExCPT training program and/or state required certification/registration
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager, and acquire continuing education credits
  • Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments

Requirements:

  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico)
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
  • Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens
  • Prefer basic math skills (counting, measuring, and weighing medications)
  • Prefer basic level PC skills (for example: start up and shut down computer, use mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents, and/or access information online)
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control
