Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join our Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team. As a key member of this team, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting AI software components that transform how our associates work and interact with customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that drive business impact.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components, including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
  • Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies, such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, and more.
  • Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve the performance, scalability, cost, latency, throughput, and cost of large-scale production AI systems.
  • Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 3 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or Master's degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud).
  • Experience developing, delivering, and supporting AI services.
  • Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
  • Experience developing and applying state-of-the-art techniques for optimizing training and inference software to improve hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this role is $174,900 - $199,700, depending on location and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, Capital One offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
