About the Role

The Summit Area YMCA is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatic Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Lifeguard and Pool Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pool Safety and Surveillance: Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area, deck, and surrounding areas at all times.
  • Emergency Response: Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with Y policies and procedures.
  • Member Engagement: Create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform equipment checks and ensure that all necessary equipment is available and in good working condition.
  • Pool Maintenance: Help maintain the pool area, including testing (chlorine and pH readings), cleaning, and completing all necessary forms.
Requirements
  • Swim Skills: Must know how to swim and tread water.
  • Certifications: Current certificate or ability to obtain American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard, Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, and Emergency Oxygen Administration, Asthma Inhaler, and Epi-Pen Administration.
  • Age Requirement: Must be a minimum of 15 years old.

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate verbally, including projecting their voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
