Medical Healthcare Specialist

At The Salvation Army Central Territory, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Healthcare Provider to join our team. As a Medical Healthcare Provider, you will play a vital role in providing health care services to our clients, adhering to professional standards and our organization's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:- Manage client inquiries, referrals, and admissions to our detoxification services.
- Conduct pre-admission screenings and schedule detoxification admissions according to our admission criteria.
- Provide general healthcare services, including administering medications, performing vital sign checks, and documenting results.
- Take appropriate action to ensure client medical stability and facilitate assistance in emergency situations.
- Assist the Medical Director in providing medical services and work with the treatment team to maintain a substance-free environment.
- Maintain accurate records, charts, and logs for the medical unit.
- Request authorization for SEMCA Medicaid referrals upon admission.
- Valid Michigan license as a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse.
- Experience in the substance abuse field is preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and Universal Precautions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Email.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records systems is preferred.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Frequent walking, bending, standing, and sitting for long periods.
- Capability to visually evaluate and observe people and inspect packages and events.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard and/or handwrite.
