About the Role

Job Summary:

As a Radiation Therapist at UNC Health Care, you will play a vital role in administering radiation therapy treatments to oncology patients. This position requires a strong understanding of radiation therapy principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients, following physician instructions and treatment plans.
  • Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists in preparing physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient and billing records, reports, and files, adhering to department policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments, such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy.
  • Prepare equipment and rooms for patients, ensuring safety and quality assurance procedures are followed.
  • Provide on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
  • Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Board Eligible (must receive certification within one year of hire).
