EEG Specialist

The EEG Technologist performs complex EEG recordings in accordance with physician orders and under minimum supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of neuroanatomy, physiology, and medical electronics, as well as the ability to distinguish abnormalities on EEG recordings.
Responsibilities- Obtain standard and special procedure EEG recordings
- Monitor additional physiologic phenomena using appropriate techniques and instrumentation
- Adapt recordings based on patient medical history and observations
- Provide orientation and training to new staff members
- Participate in obtaining data for clinical research studies
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- HS Diploma or Associate's degree in a related field
- Certificate in EEG or equivalent education/experience
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- Minimum six (6) months experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on adults
- Minimum one (1) year experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on neonates
- Knowledge of human anatomy with emphasis on neuroanatomy, physiology, physics, and medical electronics
- Ability to distinguish abnormalities on EEG recordings
- Strong understanding of recording sites and recording montages
- Understanding of basic related pharmacology, especially anti-epileptic and anesthetic medications
- In-depth understanding of medical terminology
- Varied schedule, including days and weekends
- 8-hour shifts
- Variable days of the week
