About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Power Systems Hardware Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high and medium power systems for our spacecraft, with a focus on high and low voltage distribution, and power regulation and conversion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead high and low voltage, avionic designs that interact with electrical power consumers.
  • Own the design, analysis, prototyping, and testing of electrical power systems, from concept to production.
  • Support power regulation and distribution architecture trade studies, analyses, and performance characterization.
  • Participate in program-level technology development, mission assurance, and safety initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems.
  • Breadth of understanding in electronics hardware development, including high voltage switching, power regulation, and analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Expertise in designing isolated and non-isolated power converter common topologies.
  • Familiarity with various communication methods, such as RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, or PCIe.
  • Ability to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Basic or better knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applications.
  • Demonstrated experience designing high reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254, and similar standards.
  • Experience with launch vehicle Avionics systems hardware development, integration, and test.
  • Electrical Design and Analysis tools: LTSpice, PSpice, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, Simscape.
