Job Overview

The Pipeline Welding Specialist is tasked with the assembly and installation of steel and polyethylene (PE) pipelines, the construction of metering stations, and overseeing related construction activities.

Compensation Structure:

  • Operations Welder: $41.08 per hour / Grade 46
  • Senior Operations Welder: $46.08 per hour / Grade 47
Reporting Structure:

Supervisor: Gas Operations Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and evaluate pipeline and structural welding necessary for the construction and upkeep of company facilities, including the installation, operation, and maintenance of all gas pipeline-related infrastructure.
  • Manage the installation, relocation, replacement, maintenance, and repair of gas lines. Oversee pipeline and structural welding for construction and maintenance of facilities.
  • Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and adherence to company protocols during excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
  • Perform inspection duties in accordance with company policies, including the completion of necessary documentation, as-built drawings, contractor oversight, and supervision. Act as the company representative during construction activities, reporting progress to Operations Management and ensuring compliance with Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Engage in quality emergency responder programs.
  • Represent the company in interactions with landowners, public officials, emergency personnel, and local organizations.
  • Inspect and supervise construction and maintenance activities conducted by third parties.
  • Train and oversee both company and third-party personnel as necessary.
  • Conduct governmental compliance activities (PHMSA, State Agencies, EPA, USFS, etc.).
  • Perform mapping, record-keeping, and data entry duties as per company policies.
  • Identify, report, and rectify safety and environmental issues.
  • Contribute to the development of Operations and Maintenance Procedures, Site-Specific Procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
  • Complete all relevant documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ensure all work complies with company standards, procedures, regulatory, and tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to operational excellence.
Additional Duties:
  • Achieve and maintain all Operator Qualifications relevant to the job classification.
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours as necessary and be available for emergency response outside regular business hours.
  • Required to carry a company-provided mobile device and be accessible during both working and non-working hours.
Qualifications:

Operations Welder:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in welder operations or a related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding and fusion certifications are mandatory.

Senior Operations Welder:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in welder operations or a related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding and fusion certifications are mandatory.
Desired Skills:
  • Understanding of the fundamental properties of metals and plastic pipeline materials.
  • Experience in safe handling practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
  • Ability to operate all plastic fusion equipment and tools necessary for maintenance and emergency response on plastic pipelines.
  • Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and thickness testing equipment.
  • Capability to work from job-related blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
  • Commitment to personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and public safety.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team, follow directions from supervisors, adhere to job schedules, focus on details, and comply with work rules.
  • Strong job planning and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
