Concrete Laborer

MGC Contractors, Inc is seeking skilled professionals to fill Concrete Laborer, Formsetter, and Finisher positions in the San Antonio/New Braunfels area.

• Concrete Laborer: Spreads concrete into forms using a rake or shovel, mixes cement using a hoe or concrete mixing machine, breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools, and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment to maintain a safe job site.
• Formsetter: Erects built-in-place forms or assembles and installs prefabricated forms on construction sites according to blueprint specifications, inserts spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of forms to maintain specified dimensions, anchors and braces forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, and anchor rods, and saws lumber to blueprint dimensions using handsaws or power saws.
• Concrete Finisher: Signals concrete delivery to position trucks for pouring, moves discharge chutes to direct concrete into forms, spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms using rakes or shovels, levels concrete to specified depths and workable consistencies using hand-held screeds and floats, and smoothes and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straightedges and floats or power screeds.

• A high school diploma or GED is required, and six months to one year of related experience is preferred.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry, handle, or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery, and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds, and work in various weather conditions.

This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person, and over the telephone, and to navigate uneven surfaces, loud noises, and moving vehicles or machines.
