Key Responsibilities
- Perform specialized custodial tasks independently or as a lead for a small team under supervision.
- Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of university facilities, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and other associated areas.
- Move furniture and equipment for cleaning purposes or special events, which may involve lifting and setting up various items.
- Remove snow and ice from entrances, walkways, and sidewalks as necessary.
Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of one year in custodial services within a university setting is essential, demonstrating a solid work history with commendable performance evaluations and attendance records.
Certifications: Preferred certification in at least two custodial work aspects or completion of two approved custodial training courses.
Skills: Proficiency in cleaning procedures, equipment, and supplies is required. Candidates with expertise in multiple custodial areas, such as hard flooring, carpet care, and biohazard management, will be prioritized. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse groups are essential.
Physical Requirements: The role demands the capability to lift and transport custodial supplies and equipment, with weights up to 75 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. The technician must be able to navigate various environments, including climbing ladders and moving furniture.
Work Environment: Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potentially hazardous materials is inherent to this position. The technician may occasionally work in dusty conditions as needed.
