Job Overview

Summary:

The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist is responsible for operating various cath lab and digital imaging equipment. This role encompasses a range of duties including assisting in procedures, managing X-ray operations, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the department. The technologist must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of patient care across different age groups, including adolescents, adults, and seniors. A valid state-issued Radiology Technology license is mandatory prior to employment. Technologists may specialize in several areas through training and active engagement, including Diagnostic Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Peripheral Angiography, Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, and Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator Implantation.

Key Responsibilities:

· Uphold the standards of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
· Ensure the quality and acquisition of cardiac cath digital images.
· Adjust the cath lab table and set angles appropriately.
· Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures by preparing necessary equipment, catheters, and medications while maintaining sterility.
· Monitor patients' vital signs and hemodynamic data, paying close attention to heart rate, blood pressure, and other critical indicators during procedures.
· Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy machines, to capture high-quality images of the heart and vascular system.
· Maintain a sterile environment and prepare the catheterization suite, ensuring a safe and sanitary setting for all procedures.
· Educate patients regarding catheterization procedures, providing clear explanations and addressing any inquiries they may have.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A. Education/Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized institution.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Science is preferred.

B. Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Cath Lab setting is preferred.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • A valid Louisiana State Radiologic Technology (LSRT) license is required in Louisiana.
  • A Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) or Louisiana State Radiologic Technology (LSRT) license in the relevant state is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • ARRT certification is preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
