Job Description

**Job Title:** Production Team Lead - DS Smith

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Team Lead to join our team at DS Smith. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of production staff, ensuring that quality standards are met, and driving continuous improvement in machine setup times, run speeds, and waste percentages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of production staff to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals
  • Ensure quality standards are met and implement corrective actions as necessary
  • Setup and run all machines or lead processes for a specific department
  • Monitor daily KPIs and work with employees/operators on continuous improvements
  • Enforce all safety and housekeeping standards
  • Assist in training and certification of all production positions

Requirements:

  • At least five (5) years minimum combined machine, die cutting, and printing experience
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and delegation skills
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Skilled and certified to drive a forklift
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in our ERP system
  • Previous leadership experience preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds required, with occasional lifting/carrying of 1-20 pounds
  • Reaching above shoulders, reaching below waist and knee, and at waist level, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs on rare occasions
  • Occasional hand/wrist work, keyboarding, and mousing, power grasping, and pushing/pulling materials
  • More frequent walking, left and right-hand work, and simple grasping, and constantly standing on feet for extended periods of time

Work Environment:

  • Employee must wear protective glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE assigned by tasks
  • The plant and warehouse areas can be chilly in the winter (above freezing) and hot in the summer (non-air conditioned)
  • The plant is generally clean of debris and clutter, but the manufacturing process generates a fair amount of corrugated dust
  • Position may require overtime, including possible weekends
