Senior Automotive Technician

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for ensuring the availability and proper functioning of County vehicles and equipment by performing skilled duties in maintenance and repair of mechanized and automotive-related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and clean shop environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Perform daily operations of equipment/vehicle maintenance for the Department and all other county vehicles.
  • Adhere to County policies and procedures, as well as laws and regulations related to equipment management.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of all vehicles and equipment owned, leased, or rented by the County.
  • Order and procure necessary parts and supplies.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, potential causes, and employee equipment abuse to the Shop Foreman.
  • Train and provide guidance to lower-classified employees.
  • Perform on-call duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience as an automotive technician, or an associate's degree in automotive maintenance or a related field.
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) T1 thru T8 certification or Master Mechanic with ASE T1 thru T8.
  • Journey-level ability to independently accomplish tasks or projects of typical complexity.

Working Conditions:

The work environment is primarily indoors in a shop setting with occasional outdoor activity. Employees may be exposed to various climatic conditions and moderate to loud noise levels.
