Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assist patients for exams as requested by a physician, ensuring proper exam protocols are followed.
- Educate patients about procedures to be performed, including contrast material administration and its possible contraindications and adverse effects.
- Set up equipment and apparatus by selecting appropriate protocols and requirements for prescribed procedures.
- Perform Bone Density exams and operate Radiographic equipment for diagnostic quality imaging for Radiologist interpretation.
- Follow physicians' orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect patients, coworkers, and the environment from unnecessary exposure.
- Help patients transfer to the detector or exam table and ensure adequate patient immobilization for radiologic exams.
- Perform examinations and follow standard protocols per modality, maintaining room cleanliness after exams and procedures.
- Assume accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety, preparing patients for procedures and providing instructions to obtain desired results.
- Assess and screen patients for potential risk factors, documenting patient history and pertinent information.
- Follow departmental protocols for procedures, ensuring proper identification of patient demographics and communicating with attending Radiologists and verifying provider orders.
- Produce quality diagnostic images for interpretation, prioritizing and organizing work assignments and adjusting priorities based on changing situations.
- Exercise proper precautions to ensure the safety of patients and staff while performing duties, ensuring equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks.
- Prepare and assist in the administration of contrast materials, verifying proper patient identification on the study and routing it to PACS.
- Promote and follow company policies, rules, and regulations, executing related duties as necessary or assigned.
- New York State License and ARRT Certification with two or more modalities; Mammography, MRI, CT, X-ray (including Bone Density).
- BLS certification is required.
- 1-3 years' experience required.
- Maintaining superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Excellent patient and people skills, ability to maintain a great knowledge in human anatomy and cross-section anatomy, and pathology.
- Proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques.
- High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications.
- Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
