Position Overview

The Class A Truck Operator plays a vital role within our logistics team, reporting directly to the Logistics Coordinator while assisting the Branch Operations Manager. This position is essential for ensuring that operational tasks are executed with precision and efficiency, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Flexibility in work hours is essential.
  • Maintain a valid CDL license at all times.
  • Conduct and document thorough daily inspections of the vehicle.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, particularly those applicable to commercial driving.
  • Ensure that all loads are securely fastened before departing and upon returning from job sites.
  • Possess an updated medical card confirming compliance with DOT physical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate DOT logs as required.
  • Take responsibility for the proper use and upkeep of all vehicles and equipment.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and company regulations regarding loading, unloading, and safety practices.
  • Ensure that all equipment is functioning correctly and is returned to its designated location.
  • Engage in physical activities such as reaching, climbing, and kneeling as required.

Additional Duties

  • Follow maintenance protocols diligently.
  • Wear all mandated personal protective equipment.
  • Report any incidents, unsafe conditions, or concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Participate actively in mandatory training sessions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace consistently.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols without exception.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours and overtime as necessary.
  • Engage in other projects or committees as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid Class A CDL and state motor vehicle licenses.
  • A minimum of 5 years of commercial driving experience with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read maps and navigate effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Commitment to Doka standards regarding quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Problem Solving and Communication

This role requires a proactive approach to support operational functions and complete tasks with minimal guidance. Daily interactions with various stakeholders, including yard staff, drivers, management, and clients, necessitate effective communication skills.

Working Conditions

The position entails working in diverse conditions, including extreme weather and high noise levels, and is physically demanding.
