San Francisco, California, United States Diverse Lynx Full time

Position Overview:
The Tissue Processing Specialist is responsible for the meticulous orientation and embedding of diverse tissue specimens in accordance with established embedding protocols and specific guidelines. This role involves the preparation of high-quality tissue sections utilizing both automated and manual microtome techniques.

The specialist will conduct routine automated staining processes, ensuring the use of appropriate control slides to demonstrate staining characteristics as outlined in laboratory standards. In addition, this position encompasses the execution of both manual and automated routine and specialized staining protocols, including histochemical, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescence, and in-situ hybridization, adhering strictly to laboratory procedures and utilizing suitable control slides.

Maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities in compliance with operational policies is a critical aspect of this role. The Tissue Processing Specialist will also be tasked with reviewing slides and stains as part of the quality assurance process, confirming staining performance against established controls prior to distribution for diagnostic interpretation.

The role requires the ability to independently resolve straightforward issues and escalate more complex challenges as necessary.

Additionally, the specialist will receive, verify, and accession specimens in accordance with departmental protocols, processing samples for testing, interpretation, and potential submission to external laboratories.
