About the Role

Big-D Heavy Industrial is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Estimator to join their team in Tempe, AZ. As a key member of the construction management team, you will be responsible for defining work scope, selecting subcontractors, and developing important relationships with them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define work scope and select subcontractors
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors and consider their relationship when making decisions
  • Proficient in quantity takeoffs and organizing estimates in Destini/Excel
  • Successful in hard bidding projects, organizing scopes of work in bid day program
  • Proficient in conceptual estimating in the CM Process (Program, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)
  • Understand CPM Scheduling and translate into construction budget
  • Clearly communicate with Subcontractors scheduling expectations
  • Understand means and methods of construction, labor productivity rates, and unit costs of construction materials and labor
  • Know overall SF cost of construction for different building types
  • Begin working with superior in design build projects (conceptual estimating, working with architects in design, manage budget)
  • Understand VE process and participate in working session
  • Call subcontractors and develop interest in projects
  • Understand turnover process and convey project information comprehensively
  • Participate in forecast meetings and track budget vs. actual costs through construction
  • Learns financial risk management with subcontractor bids
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering
  • 7+ years' experience as an Estimator for an industrial general contractor
  • Construction field experience preferred
  • Experience with heavy industrial projects including, mining, power, oil and gas, water/wastewater, semiconductor, manufacturing/processing is preferred
