UofL Health is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician Lead to join our Operating Room team. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Operative Preparation: Assist the circulating nurse in preparing the operating room, including assembling instruments, sterile supplies, and equipment specific to surgical procedures.
- Surgical Support: Scrub for varied surgical procedures, demonstrating versatility and competency, and establish, maintain, and monitor the sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
- Instrumentation and Equipment: Provide necessary instrumentation for each phase of the perioperative procedure, and assist in maintaining and updating surgeon preference cards as necessary.
- Quality and Safety: Participate in quality and safety initiatives, including error reporting and root cause analysis, and promote a culture of safety based on policies and organizational values.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the RN team leader to gather information regarding additional instruments or equipment needed, and assist in preparing and planning for future surgery cases.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with graduation from an accredited Technical or Vocational Program or previous on-the-job training.
- Certification: Surgical Technologist Certification preferred, with American Heart Association BLS certification required.
- Experience: One year of experience in an operating room as a surgical technician.
