Project Coordinator – Advocating for Inclusive Access to National Parks
Location: North Yorkshire (with regular travel across the National Park and surrounding areas)

The North York Moors National Park Authority is dedicated to the stewardship and promotion of one of the UK's most stunning natural landscapes.

Characterized by breathtaking vistas, rich biodiversity, charming villages, and a striking coastline, the North York Moors features some of the most varied terrains in the United Kingdom.

The Advocating for Inclusive Access to National Parks initiative, a collaboration between Peak District Mosaic and various National Park Authorities, aims to enhance accessibility for all communities.

This project provides diverse groups with opportunities to explore, appreciate, and engage with these natural environments.

We are currently seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team on a full-time, fixed-term basis, working 37 hours per week for a specified duration.

Some responsibilities may require evening and weekend work, and we are open to flexible working arrangements for the right candidate.

Role Overview:

As a Project Coordinator, you will assist in the development and execution of the Advocating for Inclusive Access to National Parks initiative.

Your primary focus will be on the Community Champion Training program, helping participants acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate enjoyable activities within the National Park.

In collaboration with project partners and managers, you will create opportunities for diverse communities to experience the National Park and benefit from the wellness advantages of nature through the organization of events, activities, guidance, and training.

You will also establish connections with local networks and organizations that engage with underrepresented communities, promoting project opportunities and enhancing participation.


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Oversee staff and volunteers
  • Provide guidance and support to Community Champions
  • Assist in project monitoring and evaluation
  • Ensure compliance with the Authority's Values, Health and Safety, and Equalities policies
Candidate Profile:

To be considered for the Project Coordinator position, you should possess:

  • Experience in coordinating and delivering projects that engage communities, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, focusing on health and wellbeing benefits through outdoor connection
  • The ability to foster engagement through various channels, including face-to-face interactions, workshops, partner networks, and online platforms
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent relationship-building capabilities
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • A qualification in or substantial experience in community work, adult education/training, or leading health and wellbeing initiatives
  • A valid full driving license
