Role Overview

As a Student Support Specialist at Uncommon Schools, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing accommodations for students with special needs. You will work closely with families and Special Education teams to create an inclusive and safe environment for students.

Responsibilities
  • Modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that promote student success.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic, emotional, and physical growth.
Qualifications
  • A commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools and a passion for supporting students' social-emotional and academic development.
  • A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes.
  • 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools.
  • Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, or STEM.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Uncommon Schools offers a competitive compensation package, including a starting salary between $56,000 to $77,000, generous paid time off, extensive training and development opportunities, and comprehensive health insurance plans.
