Job Title: Field Service Technician I

Hepaco, A Clean Harbors Company, is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician I to join our team in Evansville, IN. This role will involve active participation in the field, responsible for performing tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Health and Safety: Our number one goal is to ensure health and safety by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Physical Labor: Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools, and powered industrial tools.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection.
  • Work Environment: Work in various temperatures, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
  • Chemical and Physical Agents: Work in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
  • Confined Spaces: Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance.
  • Elevations: Work at elevations, including working from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Field Sampling: Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters.
  • Truck and Tank Operations: Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers.
  • Extended Work Periods: Work extended periods, including more than 8 hours.
  • Compliance and Safety Meetings: Attend all compliance and safety update meetings.
  • Drum Inspection: Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Waste Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Waste Stream Sampling: Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules.
  • Vehicle Operations: Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Company Guidelines: Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Environmental Health and Safety: Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Emergency Response: Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
Required Qualifications
  • Reliable Transportation: Reliable transportation is required.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to perform physical functions per Key Responsibilities.
  • Emergency Response: This position includes emergency response, a continuing condition of employment is agreeing to be on-call; on occasion working on weekends and holidays will be required; emergency response situations can extend beyond 8 hours, up to 12-24 hours.
  • Background Check: Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position.
  • OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard: Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license is preferred.
  • Previous Labor Experience: Previous relevant labor experience is preferred.
