Radiation Oncology Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist 2 to join our team at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. This PRN (as needed) position anticipates an average of 1-2 weekdays each week for intermittent staff relief.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and healthcare team members.
- Administer radiation treatments using various modalities and protocols.
- Perform simulation procedures to verify proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines.
- Maintain accurate records of daily treatments and other required documents.
- Position patients for initial definition of tumor volume and ensure that portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals.
- Mark/tattoo body anatomy for daily re-positioning on linear accelerator and document patient measurements and machine treatment parameters.
- Attend department in-services, conferences, and meetings to stay updated on new technology and techniques.
- Perform daily quality assurance on equipment to verify accurate output of designated parameters.
- Participate in in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special dosimetry as assigned.
This PRN position offers flexible scheduling with approximately 1-2 weekdays per week. Day shift hours generally consist of 6:30am to 5:30pm.
Requirements:
- An associate degree in Radiation Therapy or Certification.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Staff Therapist in a Radiation Therapy department.
- American Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification required upon start.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA required upon start.
Inova Health System offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 annually, based on experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
