Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Director of Operations to provide strategic financial leadership and direction to our organization. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of Congregation Emanu-El, including accounting, budgeting, long-term financial planning, and reporting. Your expertise will help us achieve our strategic objectives while ensuring the integrity and transparency of our financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage budgets to ensure effective resource allocation and maximize impact
  2. Provide accurate and timely financial information to stakeholders, including the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee
  3. Lead the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
  4. Oversee the accounting department's daily and monthly functions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end reconciliations
  5. Analyze financial data and prepare reports to inform business decisions and drive growth
  6. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including tax and auditing requirements
  7. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and refine program budgets
  8. Manage organizational cash flow and negotiate line of credit as needed
  9. Coordinate and direct annual audits
  10. Establish and maintain internal controls over financial activities and reporting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 12-15 years of progressive management experience in finance and financial management roles
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to drive success in complex initiatives within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of fiscal operations and principles
  • Experience managing large budgets with multiple funding sources and varying restrictions
  • Ability to present complex financial data and analysis to stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of building strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and external partners
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt easily to changing situations and priorities
  • Self-starter with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as requested by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is $180,000 to $210,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as paid time off and professional development opportunities.
