Electrical Engineer - Robotics Hardware

Vicarious Surgical is a pioneering robotics company developing innovative technology to improve surgical procedures, patient outcomes, and healthcare costs. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design of our robotic device's hardware.

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our next-generation robotics technology. As a key member of our engineering team, you will work closely with embedded and mechanical engineers to specify and design solutions to complex real-world problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electronic hardware for complex robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with the Mechanical team to layout physical printed circuit boards (PCBAs).
  • Work with the Embedded team to support processing and sensing needs.
  • Manage component selection, schematic capture, and board layout in Altium.
  • Develop and manage assembly test equipment.
  • Perform board reliability assessment and failure diagnostics.
  • Conduct testing and documentation for robotic hardware.
  • Provide technical guidance to product and technology teams.
  • Coordinate and manage project goals and progress, recommending revisions as needed.
  • Set project technical strategic direction.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead engineering teams to successful project completion.

About You:

  • 8+ years of experience in electronics design.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred.
  • Experience with the design of Electrical Medical Equipment (IEC 60601).
  • Proficiency with Altium and product lifecycle tools.
  • Experience in flex circuits, PCB technologies, and board layout.
  • Working knowledge of common communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, USB, MIPI, Ethernet, etc).
  • Experience with inductive sensing, high-speed sampling, and routing.
  • Experience with design for test and design for manufacturability.
  • EMC / EMI / ESD circuit improvement and hardening.
