Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vascular Sonographer to join our team at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital. As a Vascular Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of vascular studies, including ultrasound examinations, to diagnose and treat patients with vascular diseases.

Certification and Experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) verification is also required.
  • For Vascular Sonographer positions, one of the following certifications is required: VS (Vascular Sonographer) or RVT (Registered Vascular Tech).
Job Requirements
  • Experience or 'Must have' skills: Dedicated vascular sonographer capable of performing all types of vascular studies.
  • General Certification Requirements: BLS.
  • Specialty Certifications: For Vascular sonographer one of these certifications - VS (Vascular Sonographer) or RVT (Registered Vascular Tech).
  • Department Specific Equipment: Philips Epiq 7 and GE Vivid E95 for echo, GE Logiq 10 for vascular and US vascular Vasculab.
Schedule and Shifts
  • Day shift either 5-8 hour shifts 8-430 or 4-10 hour shifts 7-530 – depending on need of the lab.
  • Typically M-F. Open to 4-10 hour shifts.
  • Would ask for occasional weekend coverage.
Unit Specific Information
  • No float coverage required.
  • Radiology Supervisor or Lead Tech: Lead echo sonographer and Lead vascular sonographer.
  • They do not use RRAs (Registered Radiology Assistants).
  • Radiologist in-house: N/A.
  • Shifts & Scheduling: Self-scheduling or block scheduling not specified.
  • Weekend Requirements: Occasional weekend coverage.
  • Holiday Requirements: Not specified.
  • Call or Standby requirement: None.
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Not required to buy color scrubs, can wear scrubs that they have.
  • Department specific orientation provided by clinical preceptor and lead sonographer.
Additional Details
  • Vascular - depending on the study, most are 45 minute slots, some testing requires 2-45 minute slots.
  • EMR &/or PACS (Picture Archive & Communication System: software & hardware) used: EMR- EPIC, Reporting system for echo is ISCV and Medstreaming for vascular.
  • Lead echo sonographer and Lead vascular sonographer roles within the department.
  • If they have IV skills it is beneficial for adult echo sonographer – not a requirement.
