Job Summary

As a Corrections Officer with the City of Belton, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of our community. This position requires a unique blend of physical and administrative skills, as you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our correctional facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Jail Operations: Conduct daily jail operations functions, including inmate intake, property logging, searches, and booking into the computer system.
  • Security and Maintenance: Maintain the safety and physical security of the facility, perform building maintenance, and ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Conduct inventories of supplies and commodities, notify the supervisor of items that need to be ordered, and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to the public, promote the City's goals and priorities, and maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and client records.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED and one year of work experience in a police or correctional adult detention/correctional facility, military, or security guard position.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid Missouri State Driver's License, and other licenses and certifications may be required within six months of hire.
  • Physical Requirements: Work is performed in a standard office/dispatch environment, and may occasionally require lifting or carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds.
