Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Threat and Risk Engineer to join our team at SoCalGas. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for applying superior technical expertise in engineering risk assessment principles and creative analytical ability to perform multi-dimensional systematic risk analysis in an often ambiguous and complex environment.

This role requires a strong understanding of risk and threat assessment, as well as the ability to integrate and balance findings in consideration of the full Integrity Management System, safety, regulatory compliance, and business need. You will also be responsible for identifying and measuring the effects of preventative and mitigative actions on system threats.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of specific engineering disciplines, including but not limited to, geotechnical, structural integrity, corrosion control, fracture mechanics, materials science, statistics, machine learning, pipeline design, and human factors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply superior technical expertise in engineering risk assessment principles and creative analytical ability to perform multi-dimensional systematic risk analysis.
  • Integrate and balance findings in consideration of the full Integrity Management System, safety, regulatory compliance, and business need.
  • Identify and measure the effects of preventative and mitigative actions on system threats.
  • Develop and implement risk assessment methodologies and tools to support the Integrity Management System.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to senior management on risk and threat assessment matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Mathematics preferred.
  • 10 years of Engineering experience, including 6 years related to risk, reliability, threat evaluation, or integrity management.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of California (PE) preferred.
