Position Overview

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a dedicated Youth Gymnastics Coach to enhance our gymnastics program, focusing on healthy living, youth development, and community engagement. This role is vital in ensuring a safe and enriching environment for our young gymnasts.

Compensation

Salary Range: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position with availability required on weekends, specifically Saturday or Sunday mornings or early afternoons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the creation and execution of a safe and effective gymnastics curriculum.
  • Act as the primary instructor for gymnastics classes.
  • Serve as a communication link between the Youth and Families Director and the parents of participants.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings to discuss program development.
  • Direct and oversee gymnastics classes, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
  • Assess the performance levels of gymnasts and place them in appropriate classes.
  • Utilize active listening and relationship-building skills to foster connections with members, volunteers, and staff.
  • Address member and community inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
  • Embody and promote the mission and core values of the YMCA in all interactions.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, responding effectively to emergency situations.
  • Maintain a motivated, professional demeanor with a positive attitude.
  • Be open to performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in teaching and coaching youth gymnastics.
  • Ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans for groups of 5-10 students.
  • Passion for building relationships and positively impacting youth.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Understanding of the YMCA's mission and goals.
  • Minimum age of 20 years.
  • High School Diploma required.
Certifications
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED as provided by the YMCA.
  • Commitment to embodying the mission, vision, and core values of the YMCA.
  • Knowledge of gymnastics principles relevant to the established curriculum.
