Job Summary:
The Vascular Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures to aid in the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients with various health conditions. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses patients, evaluates requests for diagnostic ultrasound services, and determines appropriate methods of application.
- Prepares equipment, completes sterile tray preparation, positions patients, and performs ultrasound and related procedures.
- Lifts and transports patients to and from imaging devices.
- Provides patient education before, during, and after procedures.
- Observes patients and communicates pertinent information to physicians.
- Generates patient reports and sends acquired images electronically for accession and retrieval.
- Ensures continuity of care through effective interactions with other departments.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, troubleshoots malfunctions, and reports deficiencies to management.
- Monitors supply stock to ensure adequate reserves.
- Collects data to measure and track quality management.
- Supports department initiatives and provides clinical guidance to students.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification.
- Diploma or certificate of completion from an accredited medical sonography program.
- Zero to two years of experience in a relevant role.
- Technical competency in relevant specialty.
- ARDMS certification relevant to specialty area/modality.
- RVT through ARDMS or RVS certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) accepted for Vascular.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor Degree.
- Three or more years of experience.
- Additional certification relevant to specialty area.
