CT Technologist Weekend Position

Atrium Health is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team in a weekend position. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. You will operate CT scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency, ensuring accurate and timely results.
Responsibilities- Examine requests and verify orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as necessary.
- Properly identify patients and assist them while offering a brief explanation of the procedures, preparing them for the exam with a full explanation and documenting on appropriate worksheets.
- Interview patients for a complete medical history, reviewing in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history and recording medical history on requisitions.
- Assume responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion of dictated results, preparing and administering IV contrast according to departmental protocols.
- Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed, recognizing abnormal anatomy and processing any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
- Perform basic patient care functions, informing appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition and initiating life support measures for patients when necessary.
- Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures, practicing proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies.
- Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, practicing principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer, maintaining knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
- Adhere to the hospital fire and safety procedures, attending all in-service classes and completing all required safety modules.
Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology required. ARRT certification in Radiology, or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT scanning within one year of hire required in addition to current CPR certification.
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies, occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation, and frequent stretching, bending, twisting, squatting, or kneeling in the daily operation of the CT department.
