Job Details

Qualifications
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the specialty required for first-time travelers
  • 1 year of experience acceptable if from a critical access, community, or small trauma hospital
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited resources
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proficient in titrating drips and administering conscious sedation; experience with blood products
  • Capable of reading and interpreting telemetry
Schedule Information
  • 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Self-scheduling available, subject to management approval
  • Flexibility in scheduling for travelers
  • Every other weekend commitment required
  • Potential holiday rotation
Unit Specific Information
  • Charge Nurse oversees the ED and may assist as needed
  • No support staff such as aides or paramedics available
  • Respiratory Therapist on-site during the day and on-call at night
  • Expectations to manage respiratory equipment until RT arrives
  • May require floating to the Medical-Surgical unit based on experience
  • Standard attire for RNs is navy, while CNAs wear maroon
Additional Details
  • Non-trauma facility; focuses on general emergency care
  • Average of 17 patients per day with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
  • Common patient presentations include abdominal pain, shortness of breath, respiratory issues, and minor traumas
  • Independent work is essential for success in this role
