Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant in our Family Medicine department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting providers with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments, as well as coordinating care through messaging, scheduling appointments, and communicating prescription refills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and document patient information, including vital signs, medications, and social history
  • Prepare and maintain medical records, including charts, correspondence, and test results
  • Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments according to established protocols
  • Independently perform ancillary services, such as venipuncture and x-rays, per protocols
  • Successfully use the EMR and other computer applications to accomplish tasks according to policies and procedures
  • Track ordered or pending tests, procedures, and referrals according to protocol
  • Administer medication orally and via intra-muscular injection as directed by physician order
  • Determine eligibility and obtain authorization for services
  • Schedule tests and appointments for referred services
  • Track referrals made for services
  • Promote patient wellness by providing patient education as directed by the provider
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Educational Program or 1 year related experience within the last 5 years
  • None
Working Relationships

Works directly with patients and/or customers, works with internal/external customers, works with other healthcare professionals and staff, and works frequently with individuals at director level or above.
