Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Interstate Waste Services. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Assist in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
- Wash vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
- Assist with service calls for breakdowns.
- Perform other maintenance-related work as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards.
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years' experience as a class A or B mechanic.
- Computer diagnostic experience is required.
- Prior experience from the waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a plus.
- Trade school or similar training is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
