Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a PICU Nurse, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill children and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage the physical and emotional needs of critically ill children and their families.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families to promote health and well-being.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio.
  • BSN degree or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.
Working Conditions:

The PICU Nurse will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of patient acuity. The nurse will be required to lift, move, and reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.

The PICU Nurse will be expected to work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care and to participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
