Phlebotomy Specialist

At UNC Health, we are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team at UNC Primary Care in Goldsboro. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in supporting the healthcare system's clinical activities by performing phlebotomy procedures and patient point-of-care testing.
The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience working in a fast-paced clinic, completing high-volume patient blood draws, coordinating schedules, and performing assigned tasks. EPIC experience is also required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Consulting with healthcare providers and patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
- Ensuring quality and accuracy of work.
- Investigating problems with equipment, patient results, specimens, and/or workflow.
- Participating on teams or performing special projects/assignments.
- Teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students, and/or other healthcare providers.
- Reviewing test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or reporting results to healthcare providers.
- Performing phlebotomy procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance in the appropriate setting.
Education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, and licensure or certification is not required. However, one year of phlebotomy experience is required, or graduation from a phlebotomy program with no previous experience.
This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of 40 hours per week. The salary range is $22.48 per hour, and the work assignment type is onsite. Exempt from overtime, this position is employed by NC Health, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
