We are seeking nurses who aspire to be involved in a pioneering patient care initiative at Avera. The Virtual Nursing role enables nurses to support patients without the physical demands of traditional bedside care. This innovative technology empowers our virtual nurses to monitor and engage with patients through audio and video capabilities. You will collaborate with bedside nurses, serving as a virtual extension of the onsite team to deliver compassionate and innovative care.
Position Highlights:
- Student Loan Repayment: This Virtual Nursing position may qualify for Avera's Student Loan Repayment Program, assisting you in managing your educational loans. Each month, an additional payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will expedite your loan repayment.

Job Overview
The Virtual Nursing Specialist delivers professional nursing care in collaboration with bedside nurses through two-way audio-visual technology and specialized monitoring software. Responsibilities include conducting admission assessments, verifying medications, performing medication reconciliation, and reassessing pain levels.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduation from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is highly preferred. Graduation from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
- A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in Acute Care Inpatient settings is required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meet multi-state licensure requirements.
- ANCC Certification in the relevant specialty area is encouraged.
- Membership in a professional nursing organization is encouraged.
Work Schedule
- Hours:
- Varied Shifts
- Participation in every other weekend and holiday is required.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is outlined below. Actual hourly rate will be determined based on experience.
- $46.50 per hour
