As an Imaging Technologist MRI Certified, you will play a critical role in providing compassionate and appropriate patient care while performing MRI examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of injury.
Key Responsibilities- Access, manage, and update patient medical records through the Hospital Electronic Medical Record Information System.
- Accurately access patient medical records and input physicians' orders appropriately to patients' records.
- Review documentation for ongoing patient care and communicate patient records with ancillary hospital services.
- Maintain patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelines.
- Practice core competencies according to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
- Educate, interview, screen, and explain imaging and safety procedures to patients regarding the biological effects of radiation and/or magnetic field protection and safety prior to beginning any imaging procedure to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation.
- Position patients on imaging tables and utilize immobilization devices as warranted for safety or to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body as requested by a physician and following protocols developed by a radiologist.
- Administer contrast media orally or in intravenous administration according to radiologist and/or pharmacy guidelines.
- Monitor patients during procedures either through direct contact, by the use of two-way voice communication, or through control room windows and/or closed-circuit TV screens.
- Practice universal safety precautions, radiation protection techniques, and magnetic field education to minimize exposure to patients, self, and staff.
- Associate's degree or diploma from a two-year college or technical school; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training, required.
- Current ARRT certification, required.
- Current Montana State Licensure or eligibility to obtain, required.
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required.
- Additional certification, required within 18 months of hire.
Ongoing need for employees to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employees to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
