Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our team as a Float Nurse. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care in a variety of settings, including partial hospital programs, inpatient units, and clinics. As a Float Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, as well as collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care transitions.
Responsibilities- Provide non-judgmental, patient-centered care that respects individual autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Administer medications and refill prescriptions accurately, while monitoring for side effects and contraindications.
- Perform interventions as ordered by physicians, including lab draws, EKGs, UDS, Genesight, and HcG testing, and document results.
- Provide care management for patients, utilizing psychosocial, physical, and behavioral assessments to develop individualized directives.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a current RN license in Minnesota.
- 1 year of psychiatric/mental health nursing experience within the past 2 years, with a focus on child/adolescent care.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission standards for restraint/seclusion use and documentation requirements.
