About the Job

The Shelter Services Program Aide is an essential member of the Samaritan House team, providing direct services to homeless individuals in San Mateo County. This position requires a strong commitment to delivering quality services, ensuring client safety, and promoting a culture of respect and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of shelter services, including client intake, housing placement, and case management.
  • Provide information and referrals to clients, linking them with community resources and services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with community partners, vendors, and stakeholders to support the mission and goals of Samaritan House.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a human services or social services setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or sociology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.

Estimated Salary: $27-$33 per hour, depending on experience.
