POSITION: Day and Night Charge Nurse
The Charge Nurse plays a pivotal role in overseeing resident care and delegating tasks to ensure the highest standards of patient support. This position requires prompt communication of any changes in residents' health status to the appropriate medical personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily operations of nursing assistants and other staff under supervision
- Provide direct nursing care to residents as needed
- Conduct regular visits to all assigned residents during shifts
- Supervise feeding of residents when required
- Alert healthcare professionals when residents' health conditions necessitate intervention
- Handle administrative duties such as documenting nursing notes, assessments, orders, discharge plans, dietary modifications, reports, and other essential forms
- Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents in accordance with established policies
- Identify and respond to changes in residents' health, documenting observations, interventions, and outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation
- Carry out or oversee prescribed treatments and procedures
- Facilitate shift condition reports
- Implement emergency protocols and communicate effectively with families during critical situations
- Recognize, report, and document any accidents or incidents
- Update care plans while maintaining residents' privacy and confidentiality
- Adhere to established safety protocols and procedures
- Engage in training, orientation programs, and compliance surveys
- Monitor safety risks and participate in emergency drills
- Perform cleaning duties and assist in updating policies and procedures
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent communication and listening abilities
- Capability to manage emotional or challenging situations with professionalism
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel occasionally
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program
- Valid LPN license in the State of Tennessee
- Current CPR certification
TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
- Proficient in various operating systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with standard office and medical equipment, including desktops, laptops, and Personal Protective Equipment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee support staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Collaborate with management in exceptional circumstances
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Well-lit, climate-controlled long-term care facility
- Frequent interactions in a high-noise environment
- Physical demands include lifting, bending, kneeling, and manual dexterity
- Flexible hours, including potential weekend shifts and travel
