Position Overview

Role Summary: The Medical Equipment Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and safety of various medical devices through comprehensive maintenance and repair activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial response maintenance, repairs, and scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) for a range of medical equipment. Identify failure causes and collaborate with the BMET supervisor to determine necessary corrective actions. Execute repairs adhering to established practices while upholding high standards of performance and safety. PM inspections will align with manufacturer guidelines and Biomedical Engineering protocols.
  • Perform incoming inspections on newly acquired medical equipment, which includes performance verification, electrical safety assessments, and documenting inventory details.
  • Work in conjunction with vendor service representatives to facilitate PM, repairs, and parts procurement for equipment under service agreements.
  • Support fellow BMETs in the maintenance and repair of intricate electronic and medical systems as required.
  • Gather parts ordering information and submit requests to the Supervisory BMET for approval.
  • Maintain detailed records of all completed work through electronic work orders in accordance with Biomedical Engineering's standard operating procedures.
  • Complete tasks efficiently within a defined framework of policies and guidelines. Regularly update equipment and job statuses, maintaining daily communication with the Supervisory BMET.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and clinical teams to address unique challenges related to medical systems. The technician is expected to communicate effectively to clarify objectives and propose viable solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher, or equivalent experience (e.g., military training) in electronics technology and/or biomedical equipment technology.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in biomedical technology within a healthcare setting, focusing on medical equipment maintenance.
  • Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) is advantageous.
