Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is seeking an exceptional educator to join our team as an EMS/Paramedic Instructor. As a tenure-track faculty member, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of emergency medical services professionals.
Responsibilities:- Instruct students in EMS using appropriate course outcomes developed by college-wide subject area faculty; assess student performance in these courses
- Assist with curriculum review and revision, based upon current national standards and develop new course materials and innovative instructional concepts and techniques to facilitate student learning
- Apply teaching techniques effective in a laboratory/clinical setting utilizing state-of-the-art delivery systems
- Prepare lesson plans, syllabi and course information sheets, create appropriate teaching aids, and arrange provision of instructional materials and activities for student usage in classes and as homework assignments
- Use computer software programs to input, retrieve and generate information necessary to perform one's job
- Attend and participate in non-classroom activities such as staff development, department and division meetings, college or NSHE committees and community engagement activities
- Participate in student advisement, recruitment and retention efforts
- Teach courses via telecommunications and distance education
- Annually define long and short-range professional development goals to remain current in the discipline
- Provide professional assistance to staff and students. Assist the department Director in mentoring part-time faculty
- Teach a minimum of 30 (15/15) credit or contact hours during the academic year, August through May, as a tenure track faculty member
- Teach days, evenings, and/or weekend classes at one (1) or more college locations
- Maintain regular office hours in a shared or private office
- Communicate and interact effectively with students, staff, and the community
- Work in a professional and collegial manner with faculty and students in the best interests of the college and the people it serves
- Maintain sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students
- Adhere to the published codes of NSHE as detailed in the Board of Regents Handbook
- Comply with Public Safety Department policies and procedures
- Assist with equipment usage and maintenance for the training program
- Ensure safety precautions and guidelines are followed properly
- Adhere to the Code of Ethical Standards of the State of Nevada (Nevada Revised Statutes 281A A.480)
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Public Safety Programs
- Associates degree in Fire Science, EMS or related field from an accredited institution
- Current State of Nevada and/or NREMT Paramedic certification/license or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire date
- Four years of experience in a full-time paid paramedic position in emergency services
- Certified as a State of Nevada, Clark County or NAEMSE EMS Instructor (or Nevada recognized equivalent) through simple state office form
- Two years of experience teaching in emergency services, preferably in an academy setting
- Certified Fire Instructor II or NAEMSE Instructor I
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
- Eight years experience in a full-time paid paramedic position in emergency services
- Three years experience teaching in an emergency services academy setting
Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience:
- Associate's: $48,961 - $58,754
- Bachelor's: $57,823 - $69,388
- Master's: $60,634 - $72,761
- Master's + 30: $63,444 - $76,133
- Ph.D: $68,739- $82,487
