Role Summary:
In the capacity of a Speech Language Pathologist for Educational Settings, you will be instrumental in assisting students to navigate communication hurdles, enhance their speech and language capabilities, and reach their academic objectives. Your specialized knowledge will be crucial in facilitating students' overall success and well-being within the school framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of speech and language to identify communication disorders and formulate tailored treatment strategies.
- Deliver evidence-based speech and language therapy interventions, exercises, and methodologies to enhance students' communication, articulation, fluency, and language abilities.
- Work closely with educators, parents, and other members of the school-based team to devise and implement strategies that encourage students' engagement in classroom and social settings.
- Track and document students' progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal results.
- Provide guidance and education to parents, teachers, and support staff on methods to improve students' communication skills and promote carryover into the classroom.
- Maintain precise and current records, including session notes, progress reports, and billing documentation.
- Stay informed about the latest research, best practices, and techniques in the field of speech language pathology.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, team discussions, and school-based professional development opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations and ethical standards governing speech-language pathology services in educational settings.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Delaware state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
- Experience in pediatric or school-based speech language pathology is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, educators, and support staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and the capability to manage a diverse caseload.
- Commitment to providing culturally competent and student-centered care.
