Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the University of Maryland Medical Center Baltimore Washington. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care in our 24-bed acute Medical/Surgical Kaiser Permanente unit with remote telemetry capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population, including those with diagnoses such as stroke, pneumonia, COPD, and gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Conduct vital sign assessments, document patient information, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and excellence.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Practical Nursing and current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nurses.
  • At least six months to one year of experience in a medical/surgical setting, with preference given to those with telemetry experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and multiple crisis situations. You may be exposed to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, and must follow Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices.

Physical Requirements

This role requires standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods, as well as heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. You must have appropriate listening and speaking skills to converse with patients, staff, visitors, and physicians.
