Objective:

The Externship Program Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Externship Department. This position focuses on daily administrative support concerning policies, procedures, student involvement, retention, and completion objectives within a student-centered educational environment.

The primary duties of the Externship Program Manager encompass the coordination and assistance of the following: aiding the Senior Externship Advisor in placing students in externship opportunities across all Smith Chason Programs.

Requirements:
  • At least an Associate's Degree or equivalent relevant experience,
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, perform effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to flexible work schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with high-level industry supervisors and management teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Capability to track, monitor, assess, and evaluate student progress and outcomes.
  • Strong motivational skills with proficiency in both oral and written communication.
  • Exceptional student customer service skills.
  • Proficient technical skills, including familiarity with various computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Exhibits integrity, credibility, confidentiality, and accountability in all interactions.
  • Maintains high ethical standards and demonstrates an honest, open, and consistent approach in dealings with peers, employees, and staff.

Reporting Structure:

Reports directly to the Senior Externship Advisor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates and represents the Externship Department in daily operations, ensuring support for students, affiliates, regulatory compliance, and consistent service delivery.
  • Provides guidance on policies, procedures, and operational strategies concerning student services, including risk management.
  • Ensures the Externship Department regularly monitors student attendance and academic performance, recommending interventions as necessary.
  • Assists the Senior Externship Advisor in establishing new externship sites and maintaining existing affiliate agreements.
  • Collaborates closely with both the externship and education departments to ensure a positive student experience.
  • Works in conjunction with the Senior Externship Advisor and Registrar to ensure accurate and timely attendance and performance documentation.
  • Supports externship orientation sessions.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Smith Chason programs, campus resources, information systems, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional job-related tasks as assigned by the Senior Externship Advisor.
